We are so thrilled to introduce our latest collection in collaboration with Mad About Clay Studio - Rekha Shipurkar and Mrinmoyee Paul!
The artists' story
We’re a studio of two artists from very different backgrounds (Rekha, the linguist; and Mrinmoyee, the architect) with one thread in common- our passion for clay.
It was clay that brought us together at our teacher’s studio seven years ago and later led us on to create this much-loved studio ‘Mad about Clay’, a fun and creative space! We might be ‘mad’ but are very ‘serious’ about our passion for clay!
Each of us has a style very unique from the other’s. Rekha’s work leans towards more linear forms with floral or delicate motifs whereas Mrinmoyee’s work has more fluid or rugged forms, usually with textured surfaces.
In this chaotic and stressful world today, clay has played a very therapeutic role in our lives, helping us de-stress and bringing in a sense of tranquility, untouched by any negativity around us. Our vision is to help others to discover and imbibe this sense of calm that clay brings, through our classes and workshops. Also, to do our own little bit for the environment, we make sure that our studio is a place where we recycle and reuse most of our materials, and make our studio an eco-friendly and sustainable home away from home!
